TCU’s Josh Doctson to miss rest of season with wrist injury
Doctson left Saturday’s loss at Oklahoma State with six catches and 64 yards, ending his streak of six games with a touchdown.
Players fell on Doctson’s arm after he made a catch in TCU’s 49-29 loss at Stillwater, Oklahoma.
“Maybe the playoffs are out of line, but we can beat Oklahoma and Baylor”, coach Gary Patterson said after the loss, “and you’re 11-1, and somebody else can make that decision”.
It has been reported that Josh Doctson, TCU’s leading receiver, will miss the rest of the season. Doctson had been considered “somewhere probable” to play Saturday against Kansas.
He leads the country in receiving yards. Patterson said earlier in the week that Doctson was scheduled to see a specialist on Tuesday to assess the injury. “We have a great chance of a New Year’s Six bowl and an outside chance of the playoff…..Stranger things have happened”.
Kansas has given up at least 58 points in three straight games and will now face a TCU team that’s second in the nation with 46.7 per game.
“From trouble with trying to get our pregame meal set up, to should have been home by 9 o’clock, to getting home at 3 or 4 in the morning, it wasn’t a Frog day, I can promise you that”, he said. He is also two catches shy of Kelly Blackwell’s program record for career receptions (181).
The loss of Doctson could have an effect on senior quarterback Trevone Boykin, who is coming off a rare turnover-prone outing. Boykin threw a career-worst four interceptions against Oklahoma State while passing for 445 yards.
