Tech giant launches G9198 flip phone two touchscreens — Samsung
Samsung is apparently set make the competition stronger in the flip phone market.
The Samsung G9198 is essentially a dual-screen flip smartphone with two 3.9-inch WXGA (1280×768 pixels) Super AMOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. (NASDAQ:QCOM) Snapdragon 808 processor coupled with an Adreno 418 GPU. To top it off, the device also comes with heart-rate monitor and it supports dual-SIM.
Samsung has partnered with China Mobile and China Unicom 4G to launch the G9198 flip phone in China.
As for the camera, GSM Arena mentioned in their report that the G9198 will sport a 16 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera – the same camera specifications present on the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and on the Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung also throws in 16GB of internal storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot. Other features include Bluetooth support, Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS, and Micro-USB connectivity options as well as a 2020mAh battery. However, clamshells still continue to be popular in Asia, especially in Korea and Japan. The latest Android-based dual-screen flip phone is now listed on Samsung’s China site.
Samsung could showcase the SM-G9198 flip phone at the IFA 2015 in early September, and those attending the event could get a chance to have a look and feel of the clamshell phone at the company’s booth.
Most (but is not all) along the sensible invert cell phones around the market have also been aimed toward the entry-level segment by using reasonably tiresome technical specs to accompany it, but that’s not the truth here.
Perhaps one of the most compelling reasons to buy a flip phone is the functionality it packs in comparison to its lightweight size. That means that interested U.S. residents will be out of luck when it comes to trying to lay hands on this surprisingly feature-packed flip-phone.
