Ted Cruz Grabs Lead in Iowa Poll
The survey found Cruz beating Trump 30 percent to 18 percent among evangelical voters.
“My approach – much to the frustration of the media – has been to bear-hug both of them and smother them with love”, Cruz said of Trump and Carson in the leaked audio.
Trump lags the field when it comes to overall favorability – 49% have favorable views of Trump compared to about 75% for Carson, 59% for Cruz, 58% for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
And among those who say they have participated in nearly all of the caucuses for which they have been eligible – about 10% of Iowa adults – Trump leads 38% to 21% for Cruz, with Carson at 12% and Rubio at 11%.
Cruz has other reasons to be pleased about the shape of his campaign. He also spent a large portion talking about his poll numbers, including a CNN poll that showed Trump ahead of Cruz by 13 points in Iowa. His national co-chair and senior policy adviser Sam Clovis told the Guardian that Trump had been “in the process of looking at this for some time”. “Without this dynamic, the underlying fundamentals appear to favor Cruz and Rubio”, added Murray.
Cruz also has an edge among voters who call themselves tea party supporters.
The Carson campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the contradiction. The questioner said Schlafly wanted to know what job Trump is prepared to offer Cruz “when you win the nomination”. “The oil companies give him a lot of money”, Trump said. “He’s got to be for oil, right?” “I don’t believe he’ll be our president”. “I’m self-funding. I have no oil company”. The poll includes interviews with a random sample of 954 adult residents of New Hampshire, including 402 who say they plan to vote in the Republican presidential primary.
“Yes it is”, Trump replied.
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Monday he does not support banning all Muslims from entering the country, distancing himself from an inflammatory proposal by rival Donald Trump.
Terry Branstad predicted Thursday that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump would lose his state’s caucuses, despite the billionaire developer’s continued perch atop the polls there. Trump tweeted Friday morning.
Support for Cruz has been climbing, according to several recent polls.
Trump paused to consider the question.
Monmouth noted that Cruz’s lead is the first time he has come out on top in any state polling for the 2016 election cycle.
As recently as October, Carson was leading in the Monmouth poll, with the support of 32 percent of caucus-goers.
“What the hell is Monmouth?”. In this case, though, it seems Trump might be legitimately in trouble.
