Ted Cruz questions Donald Trump’s “judgment” to be president
“With the ethanol, really, he’s got to come a long way, ’cause right now he’s for the oil”.
Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz said USA leaders should prioritize combating Islamic State over pushing for regime change abroad, as he took a tough stance on militants but maintained his opposition to aggressive overseas intervention.
Cruz touched on another hot topic, criticizing President Obama’s response to the question of gun control by saying that Obama “has it exactly backwards – we don’t stop the bad guys by giving away our guns. I mean, everything I say he agrees with me, no matter what I say”, Trump began. Now that’s a question of strength, but it’s also a question of judgement.
The New York Times released a secret recording, something the Times says is of Ted Cruz at a private Manhattan fundraiser Wednesday. Both went on to win the state’s caucuses.
Cruz “should not make statements behind closed doors to his bosses, he should bring them out into the open – more fun that way!” he wrote.
“The Establishment’s only hope: Trump & me in a cage match”, he tweeted.
But Cruz appeared less-than-eager to engage on Friday.
Cruz’s campaign spokeswoman, Catherine Frazier, declined to comment on Trump’s attacks.
Cruz said he likes and respects those two rivals, but then he said, “I don’t believe either one of them is going to be our president”, according to the other source.
A December 6 poll from Monmouth showed Cruz, the first-term senator, with 24 percent support among Iowa Republicans, topping Trump at 19 percent, Florida Senator Marco Rubio at 17 percent and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 13 percent.
Cruz called for a “sustained, coherent, directed bombing campaign” against Islamic State positions in Syria and Iraq, arming the Kurds in Iraq, and recruiting the Jordanian and Egyptian military forces.
The new poll puts Trump 13 points higher since the last CBS poll was conducted in October. We are at a historic moment, and we urge all conservatives to unite behind Sen.
During his remarks, Trump stressed the importance of winning the state.
“The reason why I won’t get engaged in personal insults and attacks, I don’t think the American people care about a bunch of politicians bickering like schoolchildren”, Cruz said.
