Teed off at Univision, Trump drives dispute off course
Trump addressed a letter to Univision CEO and President Randy Falco ordering all Univision employees not to set foot on any Trump properties, according to ABC News on Friday.
He also told Falco to stop work on a gate separating the Univision building from Trump National.
“”
“[I]t’s too bad you did not have the courage to call me yourself…”
However, inform them that should I become president, those days are over.
The first blow came from Univision, which announced it would no longer partner with or air any content from the Miss Universe Organization. The network said the decision was made over Trump’s “insulting remarks about Mexican immigrants”.
Aside from this hit at the network, Trump also posted on his social media account the letter sent by anchor Jorge Ramos, asking for an interview with the caption. Univision said Thursday that it would severe its business relations with Trump based on those remarks, including its five-year contract with the Miss Universe Organization, which gives Univision broadcasting rights to the Miss United States of America and Miss Universe pageants. The show has been renewed, but the network hasn’t commented on its future since Trump declared his candidacy. “They’re rapists and some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to border guards and they’re telling us what we’re getting”. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime.
A statement released by NBC said that the opinions of Donald Trump didn’t represent those at NBC.
When Trump kicked off his presidential campaign last week, he lambasted United States government’s efforts to secure the US-Mexican border.
Dalton Ramirez, the artist responsible for the piñatas, said they are proving particularly popular with customers, as many want to bash Trump. I have great respect for Mexico and I love the Mexican people, but my loyalty is to the United States.’’.
Trump told Politico that Univision is backing out of an “iron-clad” $13.5 million contract.
When asked for comment on Trump’s letter, Univision seemed to be treating it as par for the course.
“You don’t know that”, Trump replied, adding later: “See what happens tomorrow”.
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending the best”.
The pageant is scheduled to air on July 12, and NBC has already started promoting the broadcast.
