A 911 dispatcher says shots were fired at the East Towne Mall Saturday afternoon. East Towne Mall closed while police processed the scene.

Multiple shots were reported to have been fired inside the mall between Boston Store and the Hallmark store at around 2:50 p.m. local time, but police do not believe an active gunman is on the premises, Franco said. “What it appears to be is a very isolated contained event”, says David Dexheimer from the Madison Police Department.
The 19-year-old shooting victim suffered wounds to his leg. At least one shot was sacked.
A shopper Evan Flood said the argument among the young men were high and heated up and before the gunfire a couple of punches were also seen being thrown at each other.
“There were a lot of kids actually around… and they were in tears and their parents were trying to get them to calm down, but they were crying the entire time”, he said.
The mall has since been declared secure by police and reopened to the public. Police were investigating to determine whether the incident was gang-related.
The shopping center posted on its website: “The mall is temporarily closed due to a safety concern”. “At no point was this an act of terrorism”.
