Teen Steps in to Rescue Bullied Blind Kid
The fight happened around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Huntington Beach High School.
Shocking video of the fight, recorded by a bystander, shows the teen tormenter repeatedly beating his blind peer on the head. Out of frame, another student comes up and gives the alleged bully a roundhouse punch knocking him to the ground and nearly unconscious.
“I swear to God, if you f******g f*** with this kid again I will f*** you up”, yells our hero, Cody, at the now-in-pain attacker. “What the f– is your problem?”
Huntington Beach High School fight witness, Grant Morel, saw the brutal scene unfold, also noting that the student that stepped in to stick up for the blind student is his step-brother, Cody.
The student who intervened knocked down the classmate who struck the visually impaired student, Marlatt said.
The Huntington Beach High School fight video has reportedly received “hundreds of thousands” of views and news vans lined the streets around Huntington Beach High School, and the Huntington Beach Police Department which is across the street, well into Thursday afternoon.
District officials said they are investigating the incident and have a zero-tolerance policy about bullying. “I really don’t want this kid’s life to be ruined”.
‘This hero is what I imagine Captain America was like in high school!’ one person wrote.
The student’s disability does not appear to have been a factor in the incident, police said. “Additionally, the school is working with local authorities to define the appropriate actions necessary once all of the information is collected. Because of this, safety is the highest priority”, the statement said.
“Huntington Beach High School firmly believes that all students are afforded an opportunity to learn in a safe and secure environment”, district officials said.
Huntington Beach Police are investigating the fight, which they called “an isolated incident involving these three students”, but haven’t yet announced any charges.
