Teens missing on fishing trip weren’t supposed to venture into ocean
According to Fox News, the Navy destroyer USS Carney will be joining four Coast Guard ships, along with other vessels and aircraft, in searching a 27,000-square-mile area off the coast of Jacksonville. “We’ll do anything to get our children back”. “These hit close to home”. It wasn’t clear whether the search would continue Tuesday morning. “I just want him home now”, she said.
Fedor said water temperature, weather and the will to live are just some of the factors used in determining when a sea search is concluded. “If you own a boat, make sure you have the proper boating safety equipment”.
He says it’s key that they stay together because isolation is one of the major fears in survival.
He does not believe the teens’ boat had a maritime VHF radio or an Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon.
“People can survive in the water”.
“People will constantly surprise you”, he said.
The center console boat in which the boys were last seen is registered to Black, but was considered Austin’s, his mother said.
“Both boys are very, very comfortable on the water”, said Perry’s mother, Pamela Cohen.
“This isn’t something that he’s new at”, she said.
Friends, family and rescue crews say they aren’t giving up hope that the boys are still alive. “No need to judge these parents, you don’t know them or their kids”.
“Even though the odds are against them, I certainly wouldn’t call off the search”, he said. Two Florida teens who have been missing since Friday, July 24, were last seen fueling their boat at this marina before heading out to fish.
The mothers of the two boys who went missing while fishing off Florida’s coastline say they believe their sons have the knowledge and skills needed to survive in the water. Police say they were heading toward the Bahamas.
“We’re continuing the search and we maintain the highest level of optimism going into this”, said Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Stephen Lehmann in a briefing on Monday. “They’re doing that because the boys have all the ingredients that could lead to a big success here”.
Now “there is no set timeframe” for how long the search may last, he said.
“Coast Guard search crews have conducted 39 search patterns covering more than 30,992 square nautical miles”, officials said.”The search area stretches from Jupiter, Florida to Charleston, South Carolina”.
Hall-of-Fame NFL player Joe Namath, who is Korniloff’s neighbor and said he has known Perry for 10 years, also appealed to the public for help. A sighting of an object off the Georgia coast prompted a brief flurry of interest, but it was found to be unconnected to the teens.
The fishing boat that was overturned was noticed about eleven a.m. Weekend. There was one life jacket floating nearby.
The boys’ families are still optimistic of a good outcome and adamant that the teens are experienced and were qualified to be out on the water alone.
