Tejashwi is RJD leader in Bihar assembly
Lalu Prasad’s son and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has been appointed as the new leader of the RJD in the new Bihar Assembly.
While Tejashwi Yadav is the Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Rabri Devi is a member of the state Legislative Council.
Tejaswi, who has also been given the charge of three portfolios in the Nitish Kumar-led government, yesterday said that he would leave no stone unturned for development of Bihar.
The RJD, which fought the Assembly election, in alliance with Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and the Congress, won 80 seats out of the total 178 seats that the grand alliance or Mahagathbandhan won. The appointment of Tejaswi Yadav drew stinging remarks from opposition BJP. “Lalu firmly believes in parivarwad (dynastic politics) and not in Loktantra (democracy)”, he added.
Mr Yadav was elected from Raghopur. “No one has the right to question the wisdom of voters”, said Tejashwi, adding he was aware of his responsibilities and would put all efforts to perform. Later, state RJD president Ramchandra Purbe informed the Assembly and the Legislative Council about both the appointments. On Tejaswi Yadav’s “lack of experience”, Manjhi said, “Let’s see him working for 1-2 months, then judge him”.
