Ten injured as terrorists dressed in army fatigues attack Punjab police
According to initial reports, the assailants, dressed in army uniforms, arrived in a Maruti 800 auto, opened fire at a bus and then attacked the police station in Dinanagar.
In a suspected Fidayeen attack, terrorists in army uniforms resorted to indiscriminate firing in Punjab’s Dinanagar town, leaving at least one person dead and seven injured, including police officials.
Police said the attackers hijacked a auto from a nearby highway and came to the Dinanagar bus stand around 5.30 a.m. After that, the gunmen attacked the police station, killing a policeman on guard duty.
As mentioned by the report, the militants also fired at a passenger bus at 5 AM which was travelling to Jammu. The police have cordoned off the entire area.
The town is close to the border of Jammu and Kashmir state.
The gunmen are heavily armed and are carrying automatic weapons with them, said TV reports quoting sources.
Five live bombs have also been found on a railway track between Dinanagar and Pathankot. Punjab Police IG, SSP, DIG, intelligence officers are among the senior police officers present at the spot.
