Tennessee AG: Consumers to get credits, checks for e-books
Customers would receive $6.93 for every ebook that was a New York Times bestseller and $1.57 for every other ebook.
Thousands of Maryland consumers who bought e-books from Apple will share millions in credits and checks with consumers from over 30 other states. The case stems from Apple’s entry into the ebook market in 2010 as part of the introduction of the iPad.
Amazon, for one, is sending out emails to customers on Tuesday alerting them about the credits, which will appear as a gift card in customers’ accounts.
Most of the publisher settlement money was distributed to consumers in March 2014. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to provide $400 million in compensation to consumers for overpayment on e-books.
Ohioans are expected to get about $15 million of Apple Inc.’s $400 million consumer payout and another $21 million from related settlements with e-books publishers.
The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office joined a 33-state coalition to investigate and prosecute Apple for its participation in the conspiracy to artificially inflate E-book prices.
Apple appealed the liability decision and certain terms of the injunction to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals.

Apple customers will receive an email from a third party settlement administrator, ebookssettlement@qgemail.com, notifying these customers of deposit of a credit in their account.
