Tennessee couple getting lottery ticket checked
John and Lisa Robinson, the couple whose winning ticket has not yet been confirmed by Tennessee lottery officials, told NBC’s “Today Show” that they purchased four tickets at Naifeh’s Food Mart just a block from their home at 6:56 p.m. on Wednesday.
“You can’t just sit down and do nothing anymore”, John Robinson said.
Lisa said she had written the numbers down to easily keep track when they were announced.
The ticket has yet to be verified by Tennessee lottery officials, but news outlets have reported that one of the winning tickets was sold in Munford.
Mr Robinson said he and his wife were excited about their winnings but were “a little scared” about their future.
The Robinsons appeared on national television earlier Friday to say they had won.
“So I got to looking, and I saw it, and I looked again, they’re the same”, Lisa explained of the moment she learned she was the victor.
“When we bought the tickets, our first priority was to pay her student loans”, John said.
He did and then thought: “Well, I’ll believe it when the news comes in on the morning and they say there’s a victor been in Munford”.
During the “Today” show segment, the family said they don’t plan to move, and revealed they had even gone to work on Thursday.
Two $1 million tickets were sold in Tampa Bay.
The apparent lottery miracle played out at the Park Avenue Healthcare & Wellness Centre in Pomona, a short drive from the 7-Eleven where one of the three winning tickets were bought for Wednesday night’s drawing.
Lives changed… John and Lisa Robinson from Tennessee bought a winning Powerball ticket.
It’s not clear what the Robinsons will collect if their ticket is verified. Lottery spokeswoman Rachel Petrie said she couldn’t confirm the Robinsons had won.
“All these years, I’ve wondered what it would be like to call my mom and tell her I won the lottery”, he said.
Florida Lottery officials are still waiting for the victor of the jackpot to come forward.
Friends say John is an engineering consultant in Memphis, while Lisa works for a dermatologist, also in Memphis. My dad always said, “When I win the lottery'”.
He said he wasn’t feeling well when he arrived at home.
According to The New York Times, the winners will divide a jackpot that, based on final ticket sales, is worth $1.568 billion, with a cash option of $983.5 million, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.
