Tennessee Lottery introducing latest Powerball victor
Saturday night’s big win was the sixth Powerball jackpot win in the state.
On Sunday, a lottery player who bought a ticket in Tennessee won a $421 million grand prize.
The ticket beat 1-in-11.7 million odds to match all five white balls.
With the addition of the $1 Power Play, what would have been a $1 million ticket doubled to a $2 million prize.
She didn’t remember the store ever selling a winning ticket that big, and she couldn’t guess who the lucky victor might be.
The owner of the shop, Joyce Gregory, scored $25,000 just for selling the winning ticket.
A group of 20 longtime co-workers now share more than their place of work: together they won, and will split, a $420.9 Powerball jackpot from the drawing held November 26, 2016.
The lottery said it would also reveal the retailer who sold the latest winning ticket on Tuesday.
Amy O’Neal told The Tennessean that she didn’t think the group would win, even though they’ve been playing the lotto for eight years.
Eventually, the “Tennessee 20” all learned they were now “Tennessee 20” millionaires.
“They’re adults but to be able to give them a hand up is a blessing”, Taylor said.
What will they do with their newfound wealth?
