Tennessee wildfire death count rises to 7

Twenty-six active fires have burned almost 12,000 acres (4,855 hectares) across the state, Tennessee s Department of Agriculture reported Wednesday.
The Lodge at Buckberry Creek was one of hundreds of buildings destroyed in the area by a deadly wildfire fanned by hurricane-force winds.
There is a rain system now moving through the area, but officials fear that not enough will fall to stem the spread of the fire, which has already burned for several weeks due to drought conditions. On Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Gatlinburg and surrounding Sevier County.
As of 1 p.m. local time Wednesday, only about 10 percent of the Chimney Tops fire near Gatlinburg had been contained. The system is moving slowly, which increases the chances of more rain.
“The rain is going to help with the suppression of some of the active fires”.
Hagler is one of several people said to be missing after wildfires scorched roughly 15,000 acres in a resort-heavy area of eastern Tennessee, showered residents with embers and forced tourists to evacuate from their accommodations.
In a video released just hours before the wildfires engulfed Gatlinburg and areas around Pigeon Forge, Parton urged people to prevent forest fires. The only sound came from the eerie screech of hotel fire alarms echoing through the empty streets.
As the city starts the recovery process, many people and organizations are reaching out to aid to victims of this devastating fire.
The Castle, perhaps the largest and most iconic home in Gatlinburg, was destroyed. The town itself sees 11 million tourists annually, with many coming to visit the park and the town’s resorts and attractions, including Dollywood in neighboring Pigeon Forge.
