A circus tent at the fairgrounds in Lancaster, New Hampshire, collapsed on Monday evening, leaving 250 people trapped inside, the Associated Press reported.
Lancaster is about 90 miles north of the state capital of Concord. The company did not have an immediate comment late Monday.
Governor Maggie Hassan said state officials are monitoring the situation.
A storm with powerful winds moved through the area Monday night as severe thunderstorm warnings were issued by the National Weather Service across New England.
It comes just days after one person was killed and dozens injured when a tent collapsed at an Illinois, US festival. Organizers ended the final day of the festival 30 minutes early Sunday night when another storm hit the area.
