Terminal at JFK airport evacuated after shots reported
People waiting for flights out of Terminal 8 were evacuated from the airport shortly after 9:30 p.m., according to the Port Authority, and a separate report of gunshots prompted an evacuation of Terminal 1 around 10:15. After police cleared the area, Terminal 2 has reopened, the Daily Star reported. During the time of the shutdown, police went through every corner of the packed American Airlines terminal searching for evidence of a gun, a victim or bullets. Whole airport shut down from paranoia.
Authorities confirmed early Monday that no shots were fired, and all of the airport’s terminals were searched and cleared, according to a New York Police Department Special Operations tweet.
That is one of the possibilities being examined as investigators try to determine what led to a series of evacuations at the airport on Sunday night.
With the opening of the new International Terminal, YYC employers will be looking to fill roles in a variety of areas, such as operations, security, customer service, food and retail, and more.
Reports have surfaced that the active-shooter scare at New York City’s JFK International Airport was a false alarm likely caused by boisterous Usain Bolt fans.
A short time later, police closed Terminal 1 after they said they received additional reports of shots fired in that terminal.
Passengers posted pictures and videos on Twitter that showed crowds of people gathered outside of the terminals. They also warned of a “substantial PAPD and NYPD presence” at JFK and LaGuardia due to the investigation.
“There are no injuries”, a Port Authority police statement said.
