Terrelle Pryor re-signing with Cleveland Browns as a receiver

“I have a series of meetings scheduled”, Pettine said on a conference call Tuesday.

Pettine revealed Tuesday the Browns briefly considered going for a two-point conversion after Austin Davis connected with Travis Benjamin on a 42-yard touchdown pass with 1:47 to play.

Pettine said he will consult with others, but made it clear that the decision on who will start at quarterback on Sunday against the Bengals will be his alone.

In eight games this season, McCown has completed 186 of 292 passes (63.7 percent) for 2,109 yards (7.2 yards per attempt) with 12 touchdowns vs four interceptions and a passer rating of 93.3.

McCown suffered the injury in the third quarter, and while he returned for a short period in the fourth quarter, it was backup Austin Davis who led the Browns’ comeback and a shot at a game-winning field goal. But Manziel reportedly lied to the Browns about how old the video was, and told his friends to lie for him too, sealing his fate.

Though Manziel did show improvement on the field in the starts he got during McCown’s earlier injuries (he missed time with a concussion and rib injury), his off the field behavior and continued immaturity are a concern.

But it did do one thing, it put the Browns in last place at 2-9. He was to be the Browns starter for the remainder of the season after that performance until the team took action against him last week.

Davis’ inexperience also hurt the Browns down the stretch. Otherwise, Davis is likely to become the Browns’ 24th different starting QB since 1999. Or just let Davis, who went 3-5 for the Rams a year ago, play out the string? They’ve now lost 14 out of the last 16 games they’ve played. The pair combined for 92 yards on 19 carries.

When the Browns moved Manziel from starter to third team, the indications were that it would be the way they would approach the rest of the season. Well Terrelle Pryor may be headed back to OH … but as a receiver.

The kick was blocked and returned for a game-winning touchdown by the Ravens as time expired.
