Terrible … This spider’s scratching noises caused a woman’s to think she was
A Chinese woman has had a spider and its woven web removed from her ear canal, after she heard persistent scratching inside her ear.
But for Li Meng, a nightmarish ordeal that began with unusual sounds only she could hear and ended with the discovery of a live spider in her left ear was anything but fun. At first, Meng was hesitant to seek medical help as she was afraid that those “scratching noises” may be the work of an evil spirit. Eventually, the pain became so great that medicine stopped helping, and she consulted doctors at the Xiamen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the report said.
Li Meng is doing fine and plans on taking more hikes with her boyfriend soon. During the trip, she climbed a tree to pick a few fresh fruit. However, after going to a temple to try to pray the noise away, Meng finally relented and went to an ear nose and throat specialist, who found that a spider had been weaving a web in her ear canal.
Although she had not gone to see doctors immediately she had tried eating painkillers and migraine medicine, but her symptoms remained and got worse.
The spider was resting on her eardrum and every time the doctors attempt to remove the insect, it reacts violently that causes more pain to the patient.
It took an unspecified ear drop to subdue the critter so that Zhaoyue could then pry the critter out with a pair of tweezers.
