Terrifying moment shows great white shark attack cage
While enjoying his honeymoon in Gansbaai, South Africa, American tourist Spencer Reilly chose to try out cage diving to look at a few great white sharks (as you do) and filmed his experience.
Many shark interactions divers in cages typically have more to do with curiosity than hunger as the animals poke and prod at the weird contraption that suddenly appeared in its environment.
The shark’s razor sharp teeth stopped just short of Mr Reilly’s head and arms, inside the cage.
These thrill seekers were able to see the predatory nature of a great white shark up-close and personal.
The speed at which the shark dives at him meant he would never had stood a chance if it the bars of the cage did not get in the way.
Reily told the Nine Network that he was not expecting that at all.
Reilly later posted a second clip – this one, shot from the safety of the boat’s deck – showing the technique the boat operators used to lure sharks close to the diving cage.
