“Terror attack” planned on Moscow foiled by Russian Police
An explosive device equivalent to about five kilograms of TNT was seized from the suspects, the source said.
Russian authorities have arrested a group of folks they said were planning a terror strike on Moscow, the nation’s anti-terrorism committee said without giving details about the motives of the group.
Andrey Chatskiy, spokesman for the National Anti-Terrorism Committee’s information centre said: ‘In the flat, where the gunmen were hiding out, a self-made explosive device has been found and defused’.
Russia’s counterterrorism agency on Sunday raided a Moscow apartment and arrested several people who allegedly were preparing to carry out an attack in the capital.
Local news reports said more than 100 residents were evacuated and gas supplies were cut off as police stormed the building. The FSB says the men had arrived in Moscow “well before” Russian Federation began carrying out airstrikes in Syria.
The aerial bombings have caused friction between Moscow and Washington, which says Russian Federation has targeted more moderate opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the campaign as well.
