Terrorism case against Pakistan politician
KARACHI: Taking the issue of registration of FIRs one step further, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) decided on Wednesday to register cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Imran Khan for his anti-military statements. The MQM chief had also accused Sindh Rangers of torturing and murdering party workers.
In an open letter submitted to British High Commissioner to Pakistan Philip Barton, PTI Karachi president Ali Zaidi had said the MQM chief’s “provocative and hateful” speeches have hurt the sentiments of Pakistanis.
Referring to recent reports about multiple first information reports (FIRs) being filed against the MQM chief, MPA Dr Arif Alvi said: “Do not treat this as a joke”.
Station House Officer (SHO) Model Police Station Mr Wali Mohammad Chang in Badin told Dawn that police were gathering the details about Hussain.
The PTI leader alleged that former Indian spy agency, RAW chief had disclosed that Altaf is residing in London as a guest of MI6. Complainants Qari Abul Khaliq Soomro and Khadim Hussain registered the FIRs 41/2015 and 69/2015 at Saddar and Airport police stations in Jacobabad. In District Khairpur, an FIR was registered at the Faiz Gunj police station and another at Mirwah police station.
Reportedly, Altaf Hussain has been named in FIRs registered in Quetta, Lora Lai, Chaman, Harnai and Pashin.
At least three FIRs are registered in Malakand while one each in Hangu, Kohat, Kirk and Abbottabad.
Later on Monday, the Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in a press conference termed Altaf Hussain’s speech unacceptable and condemnable, saying that no country can allow abusing and attacking its defence institutions by those sitting overseas.
“We showed patience, but the time has come that formally this matter is taken up with the government of Britain”, the interior minister said.
