Tevez apologises for leg breaking tackle
Boca Juniors forward Carlos Tevez has apologized for a tackle that left Argentinos Juniors midfielder Ezequiel Ham with a snapped shin.
Tevez was not booked for the incident, but has apologised to Ham after it was revealed that the injury was serious.
After the game, Argentinos manager Nestor Gorosito accused Tevez of injuring Ham on objective .
“[The accusation] makes me angry because I went for the ball”, he said in a TV interview.
Tevez managed to avoid even getting a booking, and after the match he apologised, saying that there was no malice in his attempt to win the ball: “I’m sad because I didn’t want to do anything bad to him”. Those who have played football know these things’.
The challenge – which can be seen below for those who are not squeamish – came in the closing stages of a game in which both players had found the back of the net.
It overshadowed a fine performance by Tevez, who struck the opener in first-half additional time with a tremendous 20-yard effort into the top corner.
Cristian Rodriguez scored in the last minute goal to give fourth-placed Independiente a 2-1 win over Nueva Chicago in another of Saturday’s games.
