Texans Continue to Ratchet Early Voting Records
Jess Perez, a University of Arkansas student who also voted Wednesday, said she voted early for the first time this year because who becomes president is important to her and the people she cares about. In 2012, on day one of early voting that number was 4,451. There were only 30 less Democrats than Republicans who voted on Saturday (514-544), but the gap widened in favor of Republicans to 810-632 on Monday and 748-527 on Tuesday.
“I didn’t even have to wait in line”, she said.
Jen Jones, spokesperson for Democracy NC, said the decrease in the state’s early voting locations for the first weekend could be responsible for the decline in total number of voters so far.
Early voting in this year’s election will continue each weekday, from 8:30 a.m.to 5 p.m., through next Friday, Nov. 4, in the Election Office, which is located on the second floor of Dawson County Courthouse.

Texas officials are investigating voter fraud in Tarrant County, but the investigation focuses on mail-in ballots that allow people to vote from home, not machines that are used when a voter physically shows up to the polls.
For the Trump campaign specifically, there is not much evidence that the Trump campaign bringing out first-time Republican voters so far. Riley said. “I had to send in my application, and, within a week, they send you a ballot which you fill out and send back”.
Democrats in North Carolina are outpacing Republicans and independents in early voting. On Election Day, residents can only cast their ballot at the single voting precinct assigned to them, meaning many students would lose the opportunity to vote on campus at the FAC.
“We’re hoping that it will alleviate the lines on Election Day”, Lumpkin said.

Early voters in various Texas districts – including Dallas, Collin and Tarrant counties – believe it is. So some of the early vote we’re seeing now is habitual voters converting to convenience voting this year. Election officials say interest is typically higher during a presidential election.
Huntley said the touch-screen machines are tested twice before they’re approved, and they’re calibrated daily to make sure where voters touch is accurately recorded.
