Texans Not Interested In Trading For Colin Kaepernick
We want Kap to be healthy.
The San Francisco 49ers appear to be a team that star quarterback Colin Kaepernick does not want to grow with after the news that his agents requested for a trade emerged.
Kaepernick may be resigned to staying in San Francisco and having mad scientist Chip Kelly attempt to resurrect his career.
Contradicting an earlier report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, beat reporters for the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texas say neither team has an interest in trading for Kaepernick. If a team really thought there was something there, they don’t need to look at Kaepernick’s contract in its entirety, they just need to weigh whether or not they can swallow Kaepernick’s 2016 salary and nothing else. And make no mistake, Colin Kaepernick must prove that wherever he plays in 2016 – and without a coach named Harbaugh on the sidelines – it’s going to be debated until there’s visual proof one way or another. I hope he’s doing well. Despite head coach Chip Kelly and Kaepernick making sense from a scheme fit prospective, cutting bait and starting fresh could be the right fit for both sides.
Ideally, the 49ers would trade Kaepernick to the Houston Texans, which would still leave the Cleveland Browns as the team most likely to take the highest quarterback in the draft.
The Browns followed suit, denying any reports of interest.
The Texans, who are ready to move on from Brian Hoyer after his disastrous performance – four interceptions in 30-0 loss to Kansas City – in their playoff loss, aren’t interested in Kaepernick either. It’s not the worst thing in the world for Kap, financially, as he stands to earn $11.9 million if he remains on the 49ers roster on April 1.
When Kaepernick was drafted by the 49ers in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft, there wasn’t that much talk about him leading this team.
