Texans’ Osweiler bothered by ‘distracting’ laser vs. Raiders
“I had heard a little bit about it, but in the whirlwind of the game you’re focused on the game”, O’Brien said. But officials ruled he stepped out at the Oakland 36 after a gain of 24. “Was Hopkins out of bounds on that play? No”. If Texans coach Bill O’Brien challenges that 3rd down play, the refs nearly surely would have overturned the spot and given a first down.
Between 1986-2005, the National Football League hosted a series of pre-season games, called the American Bowl, that were played in different countries. Meanwhile, Khalil Mack, and Irvin each tallied a sack. Texans outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus said the defense made a couple of mistakes in the fourth quarter that ultimately cost Houston the game.
Not every loan is ideal, but the right one can set your credit in the right direction. While it. Opting to go for it on fourth-and-one, the Texans were stopped deep in Raiders territory (though replay showed the call on where the runner went down and where the ball was officially marked was questionable). Nope. The officials said no.
But before that happened, Texans coach Bill O’Brien chose to throw the challenge flag. Turnover on downs. The Raiders scored on the next drive to win the game. Prior to the game, NFL Mexico director Arturo Olivé was clear about things needing to happen flawlessly in order to maintain the attraction. “I don’t think he’ll be back here this year, although technically you could bring him back in January, but we’re not going to do that”. I’m just a third-year coach in the NFL. We’ve got a plan in place. and the guys have embraced it. O’Brien didn’t realize it at first, but was notified about it later.
The Patriots and Raiders have the same amount of conference opponents and division opponents remaining in the season and will end up with the same amount of games against common opponents after the Patriots face Baltimore and Denver in back-to-back weeks.
The Oakland Raiders, designated as the home team Monday night at Estadio Azteca, took awhile before giving their fans something to cheer.
Mexicans loudly celebrated the NFL’s long-awaited return to their country on Monday, wearing sombreros, donning skull masks and blaring a controversial chant as the Raiders defeated the Houston Texans 27-20.
For the Raiders, despite being a thousand miles from home, it still felt like a home game. They didn’t have to call on Sebastian Janikowski though because Carr threw a short pass to Cooper and, with Seth Roberts delivering a take out block, Cooper raced around several defenders for the go-ahead score. A trendy Most Valuable Player candidate, he completed 21 of 31 passes for 295 yards, three touchdowns and one interception for a 117.0 passer rating. However, that was not the case in this game.
Raiders running back Latavius Murray had a hard time finding holes to run through. They finished the game with 325 yards of offense.
Rushing for a sparse 30 yards as a team would usually result in a lopsided loss.
It was a well-executed gambit from the former top overall pick as he and outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus switched sides and caught the Raiders’ blockers off-guard.
Orchestrated by Carr, Oakland has a high-octane offense that can move the ball on the ground and through the air.
But the Raiders are still 8-2 and enjoying their best season since reaching Super Bowl 37 during the 2002 campaign.
“Very tough loss”, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney said.
Oakland broke out a serious wrinkle to suddenly shift the game.
If they’re going to keep this impressive run going, it’s likely going to be without the key factor in all of it, quarterback Andrew Luck who is in concussion protocol.
The score was 10-10 when fans began pointing lasers at Osweiler.
The key turnover spurred Houston to a 13-play, 65-yard drive that was capped by running back Lamar Miller’s 1-yard touchdown run.
The most noticeable occurrence came as Osweiler threw an incomplete pass toward DeAndre Hopkins near midfield. Osweiler looked comfortable operating from the pocket.
Like hearing chants of “puto”, which roughly translates to “faggot”, the laser beam came as something unusual for players accustomed to rowdy behavior from fans manifesting in very different ways.
However, his solid performance could not secure a victory for the Texans. Two plays later on third and 7, Carr hit Richard underneath as he beat Bernardrick McKinney’s coverage and powered through two tackles at the goal line for his first career receiving touchdown.
After the game, Osweiler was asked about the distraction, per 247Sports, saying, “Certainly having a laser zoomed in on your eyeball definitely affects how you play a game”. The Texans asked for a review anyway, and weren’t penalized for it, which they should have been. “Got to get ready and prepare for San Diego”. “We didn’t do what we wanted to do to win the game”.
The Texans made a decision to go for it on the next play, and they again appeared to have a first down.
