A&M-Corpus Christi led early 10-8, but transition baskets fueled a 10-0 run and flipped the game in favor of the Longhorns midway through the first half.
Texas started slowly in the second half, with just two points over the first four minutes. Tyler Davis added 16 points and eight rebounds while fellow freshman DJ Hogg scored 14 points.
Texas expects to shoot a lot of 3-pointers this season and launched 20 against the Islanders after a 2-of-15 effort against Washington.
Felix drilled a 3-pointer to give Texas a lead over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi after trailing 10-8 in the early minutes.
Felix finished the night with 12 points on 4-of-4 on 3-pointers and received the game ball from Smart after the game.

Kennedy believed his team wore down the Bulldogs (1-3) in the second half, as A&M outscored Asheville 42-24 in the final 20 minutes.
Smart was ready to heap praise on A&M-Corpus Christi for its pursuit of rebounds, something that he said Washington did as well in topping the Longhorns.
“I’m really proud of the way our guys played defensively”, Kennedy said.
UNC Asheville plays Drexel in Great Alaska Shootout.
“I’m just there to hit the open shot and attack the close out if I need to”, Lammert said.
A&M shot 48 percent from the field compared to the Bulldogs 31 percent.
“With all due respect to the previous three opponents UNC Asheville were the most disciplined”, Caruso said. “They really limited us to getting open shots on the break”. “They ran their stuff and got back in transition”.
Smart said the Longhorns still have room to improve going into the tournament, especially with 18 turnovers against the Islanders. “We are just having fun right now”.
Senior forward Jalen Jones is eligible to play in the next game after serving a four game suspension.
“We all roughed him up a little bit”, Lammert said.
“We will see who gives us the best chance to win on Wednesday”, Kennedy said in regards to starting Jones or Trocha-Morelos next week against Texas. “I think our guys understand that we’re going to have to continue to get better and better if we want to win those games”. “It’s about leaning on each other and winning”.
The Longhorns will travel this week to Paradise Island, Bahamas, to compete in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m. on November 25.
