Texas boy, 3, dies after becoming trapped inside hot auto
It’s unclear how the boy got in the auto parked in the front yard.
Efrain Lopez’s grandson, Evan Trapolino, was found in the back seat of that Volkswagen Passat Thursday afternoon at his family’s north Houston home. “The child will panic and they don’t know how to unlock the vehicle”. The child safety lock was on the back door, and he couldn’t get out.
A Houston Police Department spokesperson said Trapolino’s death was a tragic accident.
“A friend of theirs showed up and found him in the vehicle, and they started doing CPR”, family friend Chris Johnson told the station. The responding personnel advised the family that the hot auto had caused the body to go into cardiac arrest.
The council advises parents to keep vehicles locked and keys out of reach of children while teaching them that vehicles aren’t safe places to play, Artuso said. We see the little boy out here playing all the time.
Local residents called Evan “the poster child for being the Energizer bunny”. “Anything having to do with a kid, especially a 3-year-old, it hurts”. “He was a handsome baby, a attractive kid”, says Efrain Lopez.
All of southeast Texas is under a Heat Advisory until 7 p.m.
“[Hot auto deaths] are usually some sort of a guardian who just plain forgets because there’s a change in routine”, Houston Fire Department EMS medical director Dr. David Persse said in a press release.
The National Weather Service reports the temperature about that time was 94 degrees but felt like 102 degrees at nearby Bush Intercontinental Airport.
