Texas couple rushes marriage vows to beat the stork
One couple had a wedding day they’ll never forget, when the bride went into the labor during the wedding.
Stephanie Tallent and Jason Nece were attending a regularly scheduled ultrasound appointment Friday at the Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women when they learned Stephanie was in labor.
Luckily for Stephanie Tallent and Jason Nese, they had both obtained their marriage license the day before she went into labour. So with the baby’s arrival imminent, the couple made a decision to get hitched before mom got unhitched from the baby she was carrying.
Her daughter was breech and Stephanie needed to have a C-section. She also walked Tallent down the aisle as a nurse played the wedding march on a cellphone and agreed to act as godmother to the couple’s daughter. The couple’s OB/GYN, Dr. Karla Wagner, phoned the hospital’s chaplain, and just 30 minutes later, hospital staff had arranged a ceremony, complete with flowers and an acapella serenade.
Tallent was loaned a necklace from a member of staff as her “something borrowed” and a blue ribbon was added to her bouquet.
Just a few hours later, the couple welcome their first daughter together.
Baby Sophia Avis Marie Nece is healthy and doing well.
For the first time ever, Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women transformed an exam room into a wedding chapel.
Stephanie Tallent and Jason Nece always had planned to marry before they welcomed their daughter into the world.
Tallent and Sophia were discharged from the hospital on Monday.
