Texas father and 11-year-old son among those killed in France

The family lived in Prosper, Texas, before moving to Lakeway, Texas, Davis said.

They had traveled from the Austin, Texas, area with Copeland’s wife, Kim, and his two children from a previous marriage -Maegan, 29, and Austin, 22, according to Jess Davis, a family friend.

“This is an extremely hard time for my family and anyone who knows Sean and Brodie Copeland”, she wrote.

Heather Copeland, who identified herself as the elder Copeland’s niece, confirmed the deaths in a Twitter post an noted that the family was on vacation.

A family spokesperson released a statement saying 51-year-old Sean Copeland and 11-year-old Brodie Copeland were vacationing in France when they were killed. In December, he starred as Michael Darling in his school’s production of Peter Pan.

Copeland worked for Lexmark Corporation, where he was vice president of North and South America for Lexmark’s Kapow Software Division.

Haley Copeland said in a Facebook post that the family was celebrating a birthday while overseas, the American-Statesman reports. “I am shocked, saddened, and angry to hear of his passing”.

Lakeway is a suburb located some 16 miles west of Austin. Since it launched this morning at around 9 a.m.it’s raised almost $4,000.

Davis said the surviving family members were overwhelmed and wouldn’t be talking to reporters. “We stand together with the Copelands”, Bain’s statement read.
