Texas governor’s official Twitter account congratulates Astros on victory
The Astros fell to the Kansas City Royals 9-6 in game 4 of the American League Division Series Monday.
While many people will go out and buy Royals T-shirts or even tickets for Wednesday’s game decisive Game 5, lots of others are turning to a more-permanent souvenir.
I like Cueto on the mound and think the Royals take advantage of an extra life and find a way to advance in front of their home fans.
But Hosmer got not one, but two more plate appearances, driving in a total of three runs with a single in the eighth and a two-run homer in the ninth to put the finishing touches on a 9-6 Royals’ victory in Game 4.
The Rangers visit the Blue Jays today.
Hamels, the 2008 World Series MVP, will be pitching in a winner-take-all game for the first time when he goes against Toronto right-hander Marcus Stroman in a rematch of Game 2 of the ALDS. In the seventh he went yard again, this time with a two-run jack that stretched the lead to 5-2. Designated hitter Kendrys Morales proceeded to hit a bouncer up the middle that deflected off Sipp’s glove and over the reach of Correa’s glove into center field.
Houston would call on its closer Luke Gregerson to try to end the inning, but not before the Royals took the lead on an RBI grounder from Alex Gordon. Cueto is 0-2 with a 5.52 ERA in four postseason starts, including a pedestrian outing in Game 2 against Houston.
– And for good measure, Eric Hosmer’s two-run homer for the Royals in the ninth.
NEW YORK – Curtis Granderson tied a franchise postseason record with five RBIs, and New York came back from an early deficit to rout Los Angeles in Game 3 of the National League Division Series at an electrified Citi Field.
“Yeah, going into that (eighth) inning, we have got six outs left in the game, four-run lead, I’ve got my three best relievers, and they went through that whole inning”, Hinch said.
“We can’t do anything by beating ourselves up right now”, Correa said. Cole Hamels starts for the Rangers against Marcus Stroman in a rematch from Game 2, which Texas won in 14 innings.
The Royals didn’t try to do too much in the eighth inning, which was part of the beauty of the uprising.
21-year-old Astros shortstop Carlos Correa has become a fan favorite. The potential rookie of the year doubled home George Springer to give Houston the lead in the fifth.
At the time of the tweet, the Astros were up 6-2 entering the eighth inning. Things settled down after that for the 22 year old Astros pitcher settled down after the second allowing no hits over his final 4 and one third innings of work. Unfollow – @GovAbbott. Follow the REAL Greg Abbott right here. The Astros are throwing Collin McHugh, who had his first postseason start of his career in Game 1 when he threw six solid innings in the victory.
