Texas prosecutors charge mom of ‘affluenza’ teen
The analysis isn’t acknowledged by the American Psychiatric Association and was extensively ridiculed.
Couch disappeared as authorities investigated whether he had violated the terms of his probation.
It is not clear who attended the party, but police believe it happened right before they left. But Anderson said county prosecutors are looking at additional charges in the adult system.
According to ABC News, Ethan Couch’s father issued a statement through his lawyer saying he’s cooperating with authorities.
“She’s gone. She was headed to Los Angeles”, the official said on Wednesday, without giving more details about the flight. The pair did not resist arrest.
A police report says 18-year-old Ethan Couch and his mother stayed at the Los Tules resort from December 20 to December 23, but were asked to leave because the condo’s owner was coming in for Christmas.
During their last days in Puerto Vallarta, the two lived in a modest apartment and tried to stay under the radar, local people and neighbors said. The street corner where they were found is dotted with a small sandwich shop, a taco stand, and a mom-and-pop corner store.
Ethan Couch said his parents had always “yelled at each other a lot”, and he wished that they “wouldn’t put him in the middle”. A photo distributed by the Jalisco state prosecutor’s office shows him in detention with his blond hair dyed black and his normally blondish beard now brown.
18-year-old Ethan and his mother Tonya Couch went on the run earlier this month after a video surfaced that showed him apparently participating in a game of beer pong, which would violate the conditions of his probation.
At least one member of the Couch family will face charges for running off to Mexico.
“While the public may not like what she did, may not agree with what she did, or may have strong feelings against what she did, make no mistake – Tonya did not violate any law of the State of Texas and she is eager to have her day in court”.
Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Samantha Jordan said Thursday that Tonya Couch has formally been charged in Texas. If convicted, she could face between two and 10 years in jail.
If the judge declines to transfer Couch to adult court, Wilson will ask that his probation be revoked, in which case he could be held in a juvenile facility until his sentence expires when he turns 19 next April.

There was no specific reason Couch was flown to Los Angeles instead of Texas, other than authorities chose the most “rapid, secure and efficient means to return the fugitive to the U.S.”, said Richard Taylor, acting U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Texas.
“They are going to be sent back to their country, given that they were in Mexico improperly”, Ariel Vera said.
“He is obviously trying to delay his return to the United States”, the Mexican official said on condition of anonymity, adding that Couch has little chance of avoiding deportation.
In the auto crash, Couch, then 16, was speeding and had a blood-alcohol level almost three times the legal limit when he lost control of his pickup truck and struck a stranded motorist and three people who had stopped to help.
Couch pleaded guilty to four counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury.
