TGS 2016: Yakuza Kiwimi brings remastered original to PS4/PS3; Yakuza 6 coming
To follow up on the tease from earlier this week, a new Yakuza game has been announced.
Yakuza 5, released on PS3 in 2012, saw the Yakuza series in prime form. So, for now, just imagine how tantalizing Yakuza 6 is. It also received a ideal score from Japanese publication Famitsu.
And the latest numbered entry in the Yakuza series is PS4 only. This one does have a date, in Japan at least. Smartphone gaming is incredibly popular in Japan, something which is preventing Sony (and Microsoft, which has always struggled in the region) from selling as many consoles as they’d like. The first is called Yakuza: Kiwami and it’s basically a remake of the original PS2 title; it’ll boast updated graphics and a brand new scenario and system. For the high definition Yakuza remake is only intended for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 platforms.
The game will launch in the fall of 2016 in Japan (no oversees plans were announced), with more details coming this very week when the show starts properly.
