Thankful at the gas pump
Many people driving for Thanksgiving this year will have one more thing to be thankful for when they’re settling in for turkey and stuffing: The lowest gasoline prices in seven years.
According to AAA’s Leisure Travel Index, airfares are projected to decrease 10 percent this Thanksgiving, landing at an average of $169 round trip across the top 40 domestic flight routes. San Jose is expecting a 5 percent more passengers during this time compared to past year. We now stand at $2.06 a gallon. The lightest travel days will be Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after, the group estimates.
“The law is explicit”, the CHP said in a statement.
He said the lower gas prices are “definitely” beneficial for him, even though he would be traveling anyway.

Last Thanksgiving, Minnesota gas prices averaged $2.70. That’s a 0.7 percent increase over the previous year, marking the seventh consecutive year of growth, AAA said.
“In Massachusetts we are predicting that 1,034,000 residents will travel – 900,000 by vehicle”, said AAA Northeast spokesperson Mary Maguire. She says she thinks about ISIS and terror attacks while riding the subway almost every day.
“Don’t be surprised if those rise just a little bit closer to $1.70, based on the news that a Russian (military) plane was brought down near Syria”, said DeHaan. “I guess it’s because a lot of people are off of work”.
The California Highway Patrol and other police agencies will be working a holiday Maximum Enforcement Period in an effort to get drunk drivers off the roads and behind bars. AAA says almost 47 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles starting Wednesday through Sunday.
