Thanks! Lowest gas prices since 2008 for holiday

A survey by TripAdvisor shows 40 percent of Americans will be leaving home for the holiday – up five percent from past year.

More American’s are hitting the roads and skies this Thanksgiving holiday.

The average price of gasoline nationwide is $2.08, 72 cents lower than last year’s Thanksgiving Day average.

The average price per gallon stands at $2.18 in Syracuse, according to syracusegasprices.com. That’s the lowest it has been on Thanksgiving since 2008. That increase yesterday is likely to show up at the pump today unless the gas stations are being thankful for their customers and they’re being benevolent this Thanksgiving Day. “When gas prices are so high it makes you want to conserve your gas and not go as far or not drive or more so carpool”.

The number of people leaving town for Thanksgiving is up this year, but experts say lower gas prices are not behind that.

“We see people come off the interstate looking for those outlets, shopping, food, places to stay, and that’s why we ask motorists to be cautious of your surroundings”, Aleshire said. “It’s very good for our business to have cheap gas as well”.
