Thanksgiving travelers to pay lower gas prices
Millions of Americans will be hitting the roads and runways for a Thanksgiving break. “It has helped out a lot for me, because I have to travel for work”, Megan Dockery said. This is still the most popular way to travel, with congestion starting early Wednesday. “In fact, [they] could be the lowest for this holiday in the last several years”.
But in reality, it’s a down time in the industry. “So it takes them longer to empty their pockets when they go through secuiorty and they can drag things donw, but if you’re coming to the airpott expecting this mad crush of people, it’s nonexistent”.
Almost 47 million Americans will travel for Thanksgiving this year according to AAA. He says that could “continue us on a downward trajectory throughout the end of the year”. The report will compare this year’s travel costs to last year’s, and will estimate the number of holiday travelers.
The lowest average price was about $1.84 per gallon in the Flint area, while the highest average was about $2.06 per gallon in the Marquette area.
The increase in travel is a result of lower gas prices nationally and in the Pittsburgh area, where the price at the pump is $0.69 per gallon lower than a year ago.
