Tharoor’s statements will be analyzed: Bassi on Sunanda Pushkar murder case
Throughout the probe, a calm and composed Tharoor said he didn’t suspect foul play and said that the overdose was the cause of her death. Bassi said that clarification would be sought wherever required and added that Tharoor’s statements would be analyzed and thereby proceedings will be made. Tharoor reportedly reiterated throughout the interrogation that he does not suspect foul play in Pushkar’s death, claiming that she died after overdosing on medication, according to India Today.
AIIMS experts also said that there could be chances of an injectable poison, in view of certain marks on Sunanda’s body.
The AIIMS medical board, which gave its opinion on the Federal Bureau of Investigation report on Sunanda’s viscera and other samples, had unanimously concluded that she died of poisoning, with the presence of Alprax in her stomach.
He was questioned on the basis of a fresh medical report issued by AIIMS in January this year.
Sunanda was found dead inside her suite at a five-star hotel in New Delhi in January 2014, a day after she was involved in a spat with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar on Twitter over the latter’s alleged affair with Shashi Tharoor, the Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram.
Tharoor may have to undergo a lie-detector test in the coming weeks and investigators are expected to get the court’s permission to conduct a polygraph test.
Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi had said necessary information on the case will be shared once the investigation is complete.
The report suggested she died due to poisoning but denied of any radioactive material or alcohol abuse.
