That’s no Sherlock: 16yo teen gets shot after trying to rob plainclothes
Police told local media that three undercover detectives were working in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area investigating a robbery when they themselves were threatened with one.
The man brandished a gun as he confronted the detective, who fired his gun, striking the man in the right arm and torso, police said.
A suspect has been shot and wounded by police after pulling a gun and robbing a plainclothes detective in Brooklyn.
The teen was taken to Kings County Hospital in serious but stable condition, while the detective was reportedly treated “for ringing in his ears” at Methodist Hospital, according to local NY1 News.
Police said the three men were running a scam, posting apartment rentals on Craigslist and then robbing prospective tenants who arrived to view the nonexistent rentals.
At that meeting, one of the suspects pulled what looked like a semi-automatic weapon on the three detectives, officials said.
Another detective nabbed a 16-year-old boy who was among the trio involved in the attempted robbery, but the third youth escaped, police said. It was identified as a Daisy Powerline 415 BB gun.
