The 2015 Season Proves Need for 8-Team College Football Playoff
The Jayhawks record at 0-12 might not seem that impressive, but they did give an FBS team, South Dakota State, quite a battle only losing 41-38.
Tuesday night, the College Football Playoff committee will stage their final dress rehearsal and reveal the four teams that, were the season to come to a screeching halt a week before it was scheduled to end, would comprise the second “Football Four”.
Oklahoma moved up to No. 3 with a 58-23 win at No. 14 Oklahoma State.
To counter that, Oklahoma dominated its other rivalry game, Bedlam, by soaring to a 44-20 halftime bulge and totaling 356 yards before the break.
Oklahoma’s best win is against TCU, who isn’t even under consideration for the CFP at this point. Alabama (8), 11-1, 1,469 (2) 3. The committee jumped them into the top 4 this week.
The victor of the Big Ten championship game between Iowa and Michigan State gets in. The fact that the Buckeyes looked like the mightiest team in the land last Saturday, yet probably won’t make the playoff, reinforces one of the glories of the sport: You can blow so much in a single afternoon. Oklahoma are harder to keep out, unlike Baylor or TCU. The field would clearly comprise the Tigers, the Tide, the Big Ten champion and Oklahoma. They’re all set for a Cotton Bowl showdown.
The Sooners prevailed in a 35 point win, scoring 55 points against the Cowboys’ 93rd ranked defense. Now, let’s go where no man should, let us project and see what needs to happen for North Carolina to find their way to the Orange Bowl and one of the semi final games of this year’s playoff.

In 1997, IN coach Cam Cameron was safer at 2-9 than top-ranked MI was after beating Washington State IN the Rose Bowl.
Prediction: Michigan State wins, 31-21.
Bowl Possibilities: Ohio State (11-1) guaranteed itself of a trip to a New Year’s Six bowl with its 42-13 win over MI.
Path to the Playoff: It is inconceivable, based on their Big 12 championship and current selection committee ranking, that the Sooners have not already locked up one of the four Playoff seeds.
So now, every week, we predict the excuses he will make for teams that recently lost games.
It would take a lot for the Sooners to drop, but they need to root for the two teams ahead of them to lose, as well as the teams creeping up behind them in the standings. That would open the door for Stanford or Ohio State, and again the guess here is the conference championship tips the scales to the Pac-12 victor.
