I know they are true devotees of the cinema and I can tell every time I speak with one of them how much they care about what they do.
Swedish actress Alicia Vikander had a big day. The addicting thriller series also received a nomination for best miniseries or motion picture made for television.
On the other hand, some films and performers were shut out of key categories.
Premium rival Showtime suffered a falloff, too, with last year’s nine nominations shrinking to three. Spielberg was left out of the best director race, and the film didn’t make the cut for best drama.

The Golden Globes are chosen by a group of around 90 journalists of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, rather than members of the film industry.
But if Oscar forecasters are looking to sift through Globe tea leaves, there appear to be few sure things.
But the dry spell finally ended for Stallone on Thursday when he received a supporting actor nomination for reprising his iconic role as Rocky Balboa in “Creed“.
Other veteran actresses and actors also did well with the Golden Globes on Thursday.
It comes as no surprise that “Mad Max: Fury Road” is continuing to be a recurring nominee during the award season.
Next in line for the most nominations was Adam Kay’s “The Big Short”, a financial comedy.
The best screenplay nominations went to “Room”, “Spotlight”, “The Big Short”, “Steve Jobs” and “The Hateful Eight”.
Maggie Smith, who received a lead actress in a comedy or musical nomination for “Lady in the Van”, was first nominated for a Golden Globe for most promising female newcomer for the 1963 melodrama “The V.I.P’s”.
In the best director category Ridley Scott (The Martian), Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (The Revenant), Tom McCarthy’s “Spotlight”, Todd Haynes’s “Carol” and George Miller for “Mad Max: Fury Road” have been nominated.
In the best animated film category, the Charlie Kaufman-scripted, stop-motion animated “Anomalisa” slotted in alongside a quartet of more family-friendly releases: “Inside Out”, “The Good Dinosaur”, “The Peanuts Movie” and “Shaun the Sheep Movie”.
Also nominated in the best television drama series are “Mr Robot”, “Narcos” and “Outlander”.
Best actor in a TV series- comedy nods are Indian-American Aziz Ansari (‘Master of None’), Gael Garcia Bernal (‘Mozart in the Jungle’), Rob Lowe (‘The Grinder’), Patrick Stewart (‘Blunt Talk’) and Jeffrey Tambor (‘Transparent’).

Fellow streaming video outlet Amazon snagged five nominations (up from two last year) and Hulu scored its first.
Denzel Washington will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for making an “incredible impact on the world of entertainment”. The event is scheduled to take place on January 10.
The 73rd Golden Globe awards will be held January 10 and hosted by Ricky Gervais.
