“The 5th Wave” Trailer is Here!
Synopsis: The 5th Wave, four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth decimated. The next salvo in an alien invasion is nigh, and only Chloe Grace Moretz can save us. Nick Robinson stars as Cassie’s classmate Ben, and Alex Roe is a handsome stranger named Evan. They start by knocking out the world’s power grid (1st Wave: Darkness), then move on to causing unnatural natural disasters (2nd Wave: Destruction). Based on this trailer, “The 5 Wave” looks to be an intriguing sci-fi adventure with a premise that falls somewhere along the path tread by films like “Independence Day“, “The Road”, and “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”.
When Cassie, dirty and nearly feral, walks into a seemingly abandoned gas station early in the movie, Moretz “was very much like the character as how I envisioned her reactions to that situation”, says Yancey, whose final book in the 5th Wave trilogy, The Last Star, is out May 24. The third spread a massive epidemic across the globe.
In the grand cacophony of YA book series out there, The 5th Wave is a pretty good one and is at least doing something a bit different in terms of subject matter.
Now comes the fifth wave- the total annihilation of humanity. While it is still unknown if “The 5th Wave” will be able to perform well at the box-office, it seems likely that Sony will continue to produce the film trilogy.
J. Blakeson (The Disappearance Of Alice Creed) is the director, with Liev Schreiber, Ron Livingston, Maria Bello, Maika Monroe and Terry Serpico bulking up the rest of the cast.
