The 64GB iPhone 8 could put an end to low-storage iPhones
Those with more money might stump for the latest iPhone 8 that would come with a 5.8in iPhone with OLED. The best is yet to come, “Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook said in a statement January 8, the date the iPhone was announced by then-CEO Steve Jobs in 2007”.
For reference, the iPhone 7 features around 320 pixels per inch.
OLED displays have been around the iPhone 8’s competitors for a very long time.
If true, this will be a big design upgrade for the iPhone line, getting rid of bezels and giving the phone a sleek, edge-to-edge screen design. That would mean saying goodbye to the familiar iPhone home button whose functions would be incorporated into the larger display. TrendForce expects the new iPhone to boast 3GB of memory and start at 64GB of storage. However, the company is rumoured to be introducing a hi-tech alternative.
A new report sheds light on what this 3D facial recognition camera might be.
This could then be used for facial and iris recognition and even facial scanning for augmented and virtual reality applications. “We think the advanced 3D front camera system will allow the new iPhone to perform 3D sensing and modeling”, BI quotes Kuo as saying. “It is possible for Apple to add proprietary features such as fast charging or extended charging to differentiate itself from the pack and enhance the value of its own hardware ecosystem”. The drop to 64GB suggests Apple wants to make at least one version of the iPhone 8 more affordable. The now shipping iPhone 7 has 2 gigabytes of LPDDR4 RAM, and the iPhone 7 Plus has 3GB. Apple, for its part, has stubbornly refused to adopt the screen, sticking to a more conventional TFT-LCD panel instead. Both the variants will be available with 256 GB on-board storage.
Morgan Stanley has raised Apple’s stock price target accordingly from $150 to $154 in anticipation of high demand for the upcoming iPhone.
For the iPhone 7 plus, the pricing was again different, with the 32 GB variant priced at $769, the 128 GB variant priced at $869 and lastly, the 256GB variant priced at $969.
