The amount of money Conor McGregor earned per second is mind-blowing
Former UFC featherweight champion and pound-for-pound king Jose Aldo is still feeling heartbroken after his 13-second loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 194 last Saturday.
18-fight winning streak and almost five-year UFC featherweight title reign came to a stunning end when McGregor (19-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) caught him with a ideal punch for a 13-second knockout victory.
Respect to a great champion in Jose Aldo.
Coincidentally, Aldo also holds the record for the longest average fight time in UFC history, at 21 minutes, according to ESPN. “If not, then we do Frankie Edgar, and José Aldo would fight somebody else”.
“If Rousey is granted an immediate rematch I would expect the same treatment for Aldo”, Jones wrote on Twitter.
The Irish fighter clearly knew his way with words and also in the ring.
“It still is too hard to digest”, Aldo told Combate on Sunday.
The moments leading up to the fight were tense as both fighters came into the ring ready for an epic battle.
Watch Conor McGregor vs Jose Aldo fight video. It was the quickest title bout in UFC history, but it doesn’t seem like Aldo is going to have a chance to redeem himself. “It’s Christmas. In the fight game, you travel around, making weight or doing something, and Christmas was taken from me many times”.
“We spoke (with UFC commissioner Dana White) right after”.
“If they have Croke Park and they want him, I’ll take that, no problem. Not only me but my career speaks for itself”, Aldo said.
Perhaps it is his closeness to recently crowned UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm but Jon Jones’ mind is on rematches.
Aldo (25-2) missed with a right and McGregor floored him with a left, adding a pair of hammer-fists before referee John McCarthy stepped in before a crowd of 16,516 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. “Much stronger. You can be sure we will come back stronger and far more champions than it already was”.
‘We trained hard, did everything right, and the result wasn’t positive. “He got me with a good shot and was able to finish the fight”. “I think this fight here, I think now we have to go to a rematch”.
