The Banner Saga launches on consoles next month
All that was mentioned was: “John Watson [one of the founding trio of developer Stoic, and the programmer] has been working on porting the game to consoles for quite a while”. Porting the game certainly presented technical challenges that we needed to overcome, and gave us an opportunity to redesign the user experience for console controllers.
It makes sense that The Banner Saga would be known for its story (again, the people who made it came from BioWare) but it’s also a game well-regarded for its lovely 2D art, which brings to mind classic films from animation studio Topcraft – or as you might know them today, Studio Ghibli.
Back in December 2014, we reported on the fact that Stoic’s popular PC turn-based RPG The Banner Saga would be coming to Xbox One.
“Launching the Banner Saga on next gen consoles is a huge step forward for Stoic and the brand” said Steve Escalante, general manager of Versus Evil.
“The realities, however, of a very small team and a limited budget, put an immutable check on the speed of our progress”. It’s good news then that we’ll finally be able to catch up on consoles.
Speaking of Banner Saga 2, no updates were given about a potential release date. The second part is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2016 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Are you more looking forward to Banner Saga 2?
