The Beatles Are Coming to Apple Music on Christmas Eve
The Beatles have confirmed it: Their catalogue will be available to stream starting at 12:01 a.m. on December 24.
Suggestions that the Beatles may arrive on a streaming platform in time for Christmas first emerged on Billboard last week.
Formed in Liverpool in 1960 by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, the Beatles went on to define a generation and their music inspired an unforgettable wave of “Beatlemania” in Europe and the US.
Unlike artists such as Adele, Coldplay and Taylor Swift, who chose to not release some of their singles to the free versions of music streaming services, “The Beatles” will be available for free to its users, Re/code said.
Companies including Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play and Amazon Prime Music are all expected to be among those hosting the content.
The world’s most famous band will be available on a variety of streaming services tomorrow.
People will also be able to keep track of where in the world the music is available through the official Beatles website.
“In terms of digital the Beatles have always been quite late to the party – they came to iTunes in 2010, which was a good five years after the iTunes Music Store started gaining momentum”. The only music service that won’t have full access to The Beatles’ catalog is Pandora, which doesn’t do direct deals with music owners.
