The Bentley Flying Spur W12 S Is A 200mph Hyper Waft Mobile
To mark out its model-topping performance, the W12 S wears a Beluga gloss radiator grille and light surrounds, a rear diffuser and optional carbon fibre veneer.
Like its more mundane sibling, the Flying Spur W12 S relies on a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W-12 engine to channel its muscle to all four wheels.
Bentley has just launched its first 200-plus miles per hour four-door missile, which comes in the form of the S flavor for the Flying Spur W12. Zero to 60 happens in 4.2 seconds-which is quite good when you consider “as much as a Bentley does” means it weighs about as much as a herd of elephants.
The S model also has 820Nm of torque, up 20Nm from the standard W12, delivered in full from as little as 2,000rpm.
Matching stopping power is available through the optional ceramic brake rotors, but keep in mind that the standard steel units provide hefty deceleration while skipping the undesired sound (read: slight squeal at times) risks of the carbon units.
“The Flying Spur W12 S is the ultimate luxury performance sedan”, Bentley chairman and CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer said in a statement. These include black accents around the exterior, custom 21-inch wheels, dark tints for the lights, and special badging.
Inside, the Flying Spur W12 S boasts styling cues created to enhance its sporting luxury aesthetic, with the exquisite handcrafted interior offering a wider palette of colours, a new fascia finish and unique stitching.
As well as the extra power and torque, the Spur’s suspension has been revised, although Bentley hasn’t gone into specifics, merely stating that the changes offer “improved body control and handling without sacrificing comfort”. There’re also W12 S headrest emblems, W12 S treadplates and a three-spoke Sport Plus steering wheel and knurled gearshift paddles, which are only available as options on other models.
The Flying Spur comes complete with a suite of onboard technology to make it an ideal place for work or relaxation on the move.
