It is thought another reason for the increase in home shopping on Black Friday could be the sight of people fighting over electrical appliances previous year. Even if Black Friday is still days away, online retailers are already likely to react to each other’s deals and try to make their prices more appealing. There are also discounts on general household items like kitchen appliances, furniture, beds, and more. How do you know you are getting the best deal?

Black Friday sale is the most awaited sale of the year wherein people can shop virtually anything at discounted prices. Long queues and overcrowded stores are no one’s idea of a great shopping experience.

Green MSP Patrick Harvie said Black Friday was “deliberately created to whip customers up into a frenzy of aggression and in some cases violence”.

The Black Friday affect was strengthened in York by crowds visiting St Nicholas Fair, which traditionally attracts coachloads of shoppers from all over the country on the last Friday and weekend of November.

Amazon also announced that their Prime members will get an early start on Black Friday sales by allowing customers to purchase items 30 minutes ahead of regular customers.

Deputy chief constable Sue Fish, of the National Police Chiefs’ Council Business and Retail Crime unit, has warned sales should be appropriately staffed and said police are not a substitute for instore security.

To help cope with Black Friday, which last year saw Amazon sell 5.5 million products, and the busy Christmas period, Amazon has this year opened two fulfilment centres in Doncaster and Dunstable. “But for the most part, the deals aren’t anything better than what you’d see throughout the rest of the year”.
