‘The Brink’ renewed for season 2 by HBO
The Brink Season 2 has been picked up by HBO, which announced the recent 10-episode comedy series starring Jack Black, Tim Robbins and Pablo Schreiber, will be receiving another season. These three compromised souls must pull through the chaos around them to save the planet from World War III. Maribeth Monroe, Carla Gugino, Esai Morales, Geoff Pierson, Aasif Mandvi and Eric Ladin all co-star.
In its first season, The Brink was an imperfect but nonetheless a watchable comedy that seemed to fall a little short of its potential, focusing on broad raunchy humor as opposed to legitimately toothy political satire.
When a rogue general seizes control of Pakistan and its nuclear arsenal, the fate of the world rests on the shoulders of three improbable Americans: Secretary of State Walter Larson, lowly Foreign Service officer Alex Talbot and ace Navy fighter pilot Zeke Tilson.
As such, it’s great to see that HBO is going to give the series a chance to spread its wings and improve in its sophomore run. The renewal comes a day before the options on the cast were set to expire after the pay cable network had secured a weeklong extension last week.
With six episodes out in the wild, the HBO series’ audience seems to be stabilizing at around 1m US viewers; 0.99m saw the July 12 episode “I’ll Never Be The Batman”, and 1.06m watched on July 19, after the series debuted June 21 with a 1.6m viewership.
Art imitating life,Gotta love it.Excellent show to be sure.
