The Electoral College still makes sense in our republic
With new votes tallied from New Jersey, Illinois, Maryland and California, Clinton’s popular vote lead reached 2,017,563 overnight.
He mentioned the popular vote before any of us could – to let us know that he would have won it if it had mattered and his strategy had been devised accordingly. Not everyone is buying it – protests continue across the country – but the billionaire has been hosting a politically diverse parade of officials to his golf course in New Jersey as he’s tried to fill out his Cabinet.
No congratulations for Mr Trump from one half of the United States on his achievement and very many Democrats have not yet come to terms with his election by way of securing more Electors in the Electoral College.
Mr Trump, the Republican nominee, eked out an unlikely victory and shocked the world by taking the Electoral College votes, against predictions by most polling organisations, including the most credible of them that showed a narrow win for Mrs Clinton up to the day before the election. Even if Clinton wins there, she still would trail, 290-248.

That happened because the Electoral College actually selects the President, not the voting public who elect members of the Electoral College who are pledged to vote for their candidate but are not required to do so.
Often, I feel like people of different race, gender and cultures are used for their skills or talents and not given much in return.
The visitors have included Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential candidate who called Trump unfit for office.
In 2000, Democratic candidate, Al Gore, lost to Republican, George W. Bush despite having won 48.4 percent of the popular vote to 47.9 percent for Bush. Outgoing Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) introduced a constitutional amendment to elect the president by popular vote, and the National Popular Vote Compact – a state-based attempt to abolish the Electoral College by allocating electoral votes to the popular vote victor – has gained momentum.
