The ESPN Brazil call of Aaron Rodgers’ Hail Mary is fantastic
This one just felt a little less fluky.
Green Bay Packers tight end Richard Rodgers (82) catches a game winning touchdown pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers (not pictured) during the fourth quarter against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. “I really didn’t know what was going on around me, I just locked in on the ball and tried to make a play”.
What has to be galling for Lions fans is that this wasn’t like so many other Hail Marys. “But the confidence he has in his arm and the ability to throw with that arc … the arc of the ball is critical to the success of the play”.
What a game. The Detroit Lions were in control until the Green Bay Packers made a decision to come alive in the 3rd quarter.
In the second half, the Green Bay Packers outscored them 27-6, according to SB Nation.
Rodgers scrambled to his right and fired a bomb into the end zone and the Packers’ tight end made a two-handed grab. The limited pass rush allowed that.
“In that situation, a lot of times we practice it from like the 50 or maybe the 45. You want to get the ball into the end zone and you want to get people around it. However you orchestrate that, I mean you don’t want to throw it short and you don’t want to throw it out”, Belichick said. The running game was held in check the entire game as Green Bay had a mere 67 total yards on the ground with Aaron Roders leading with 27 of those.
The dramatic victory opened Week 13 of the 2015 National Football League season that includes 26 former players now on National Football League rosters as well as head coach Ron Rivera and assistant secondary coach Richard Rodgers Sr. of the 11-0 Carolina Panthers that are the NFL’s only remaining unbeaten team.
There were still six Detroit players left to defend five eligible receivers.
Rodgers completed 24-of-36 passes for 273 yards, two passing touchdowns and an interception.
As for Richard Rodgers, he had a great game aside from catching the Hail Mary.
Buffalo Bills running back Karlos Williams will miss tomorrow’s game against the Houston Texans with a right shoulder injury, coach Rex Ryan said. Once they reach the ten yard line, the inside receiver begins heading toward the group of players while the outside receiver continues his slight angle closer toward the center of the end zone.
The Lions (4-8) had won three straight and blew a chance to sweep the season series for the first time since 1991. Bynes and Adams jostled for position. Safety Glover Quin came up from behind to try to make a play on the ball, and linebacker Tahir Whitehead jumped in from the side.
“Until that clock ticks zero, there’s no such thing as certain victory”, Caldwell said.
The Packers’ last-gasp win over the Lions Thursday night, abetted by a dubious penalty, did more than just pile onto Detroit’s misery – it put a dent in the Vikings’ chances of a home playoff game.
Moreover, the Lions compounded their error by having the worst defensive scheme ever for a Hail Mary.
