The first trailer for Disney’s ‘Moana’ is a delight
Disney fans have long awaited this moment, but it’s here!
We’ve been getting quick peeks at Disney’s next animated musical, Moana, for a while now, but tonight during The Tony Awards we were gifted the first trailer for the film.
Maui’s strengths, as evidenced by the trailer, sees him being able to lift islands out of the sea and having animated tattoos. The new teaser features a first look at our main characters, Moana and Maui, as well as a bunch of lovely shots from the movie and sneak peek at some of the music.
Moana is directed by the team behind The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, Ron Clements and John Musker. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one today knows why.
With the film set in the South Pacific, the trailer gives us a good long look at the demi-god Maui (played by the one and only Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), as he tries to impress the titular protagonist, Moana (Auli’i Cravalho in her first-ever role).
Moana hits theaters November 23rd, 2016. The film follows Moana (Auli’i Cravalho) as she sails out on a mission to prove herself as a master navigator, and to fulfil an ancient quest. Also featuring a script co-written by Taika Waititi and music from Lin-Manuel Miranda, it has some of the most promising collaborators Disney has recruited as of late, so hopefully it delivers later this fall.
